BIBLICAL COMMAND WE MUST BREAK — Mark
7:35-36 (CSB) says, “Immediately his ears were opened, his tongue was
loosened, and he began to speak clearly. 36 He ordered them to tell no one, but
the more he ordered them, the more they proclaimed it.”
Several times
during His three-plus years of public ministry Jesus healed someone
miraculously and, ironically it seems, ordered the healed person NOT to follow
Him and NOT to tell anyone what He had done. My purpose here is NOT to try to
explain why Jesus gave such orders; based on a few other incidents I think we
can make a pretty good guess. Instead, NOTE this—several times the healed
person entirely ignored and disobeyed Jesus’ direct command! The Bible is clear—Jesus
IS God! And, to disobey ANY of God’s commands is definitely a SIN! Or so it
seems.
Anyhow, I don’t think God (the Father, the Son or the Spirit) thought that guy had sinned. It was only natural and expected that he would want to share his miraculous healing with anyone and everyone! And those of us who call ourselves Christians, committed followers of Jesus Christ, MUST do the same thing: Tell anyone and everyone around us the BEST news of all—that JESUS SAVES!
