06/08/20 OUR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY — Today Linda and I are celebrating 51 years of marriage! It’s hard (for just about anyone) to believe that she has put up with the likes of me that long. What a wonderful, exciting “ride” it’s been (and continues to be)! We met in high school and “fell head over heels in love” almost immediately (I suppose I should just speak for myself)! As I considered possible dates/mates I had only 3 criteria—she must be beautiful, smart and a committed Christian. On a scale of 1 to 10, Linda gets a 1000!

Since marriage is the very first human relationship and institution created by Almighty God, there are hundreds of Bible verses about it. For the sake of brevity (NOT one of my hallmarks!), I’ll just mention Ephesians 5:25, 32 (CSB) which says, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her… 32 This mystery is profound, but I am talking about Christ and the church.”

As a mathematician I love to represent Bible passages and truths by equations. Scripture is absolutely clear that a godly biblical marriage is “1 + 1 + 2 = 4,” that is, 1 Man and 1 Woman 2-gether 4 Life! And God intended that the relationships within a godly marriage and family mirror the perfect relationships within the Trinity—God the Father; Jesus, God the Son; and God the Holy Spirit.
