04/23/20 THE WEIGHT OF SIN #2—My senior year our high school football team was undefeated, the Virginia state champs. As a 200 pound linebacker I was the smallest guy on the first-string defense! A couple of times after I had tackled a runner, I wound up at the very bottom of a giant heap of tons of football players. I was trapped, I could barely breathe, and it seemed like nobody was in any hurry to get off me. When all else failed, I punched, pinched, scratched and bit until they all got off me!
In Isaiah 43:24 (NIV), God says, “You have not bought any fragrant calamus for me, or lavished on me the fat of your sacrifices. But you have burdened me with your sins and wearied me with your offenses.”
Apparently God Himself feels the weight of our sins. Thank the Good Lord that He sent His Son Jesus to remove that burden from Himself AND us!
