04/17/20 AFTER-EFFECTS of EASTER: Why is he
called “Doubting Thomas?” It’s probably
because of two passages: (1) John 14:4-6 You know the way to where I am going.” 5 “Lord,” Thomas said, “we don’t know where you’re
going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus told
him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through Me”; and (2) John 20:27-29 Then He said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and
look at My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Don’t be
faithless, but believe.” 28 Thomas responded
to him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus said,
“Because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not
seen and yet believe.” I think Thomas was honest, curious and determined not to
be gullible; he was a lot like ME, and, probably most of US!
Because of the
women who went to the tomb and two men—Peter, who ran to the tomb to verify
what the women had told him; and Thomas, who refused to believe until he was
absolutely convinced by firsthand evidence—YOU and I can be 100% certain that
Jesus was actually, physically resurrected! Praise the Lord!
